Matt Upton - Tenor
Matthew was born in 1981 and has lived his entire life in the Clayton/Henry county area. He was saved at the age of four after telling his mother that he had used the penny she had given him to throw into a fountain for wishing to go to heaven. She let him know that there was no wish necessary, and after praying with her, Matthew asked Jesus to save him.
Matthew’s parents are lifetime members of Community Bible Church in Stockbridge, so he was “born” into the church where he now serves in the music ministry. He met his wife, Tonya, at church, where she too had been a member since birth. They began dating in the summer of 2006 and were married the following year in June. They welcomed their daughter Leila to the family in September of 2008.
Matthew is committed to his ministry in music and enjoys not only praising Christ through his passion, but also seeing the changes that heartfelt worship can have on a body of believers. There is nothing he enjoys more than giving thanks to God through song and he believes doing so is one of the most sincere forms of praise possible. With that in mind, he has helped lead the worship at his church for 5 years and has also released a CD of Christian music during that time.
